ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 8 – SPRING 2022 FUN COLORFUL GIRL’S BEDROOM REVEAL!
It’s the week 8 and the final week of One Room Challenge! If you have not heard of ORC, it is an Interior design event where a great community of participants transform a room of their choice. It’s the 10th Anniversary year which makes it even more special to celebrate creativity, inspiration and the original ideas!
The ORC was started by Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home. The event was for 8 weeks and I’m sharing a Fun Colorful Girl’s bedroom makeover!
Finally I’m able to share the transformation of my daughter’s room today! With the spring vacation, having covid and the last week events, I thought I’ll not be able to complete the challenge. Guess what, I always work under pressure which I’m consciously trying to change :).
Let’s not wait anymore time! Let me share few before and after photos to see how the space is transformed!
My daughter selected the upholstered bed, that became the basis for the room color palette and whole room transformation!
The wall is blue as shown in the above photo. It looks green or blue depending on the light and the time of the day! I like both the colors, it works perfectly in my daughter’s room.
The main requirement was to have a fun, colorful yet calming room with less things in the room. We wanted a queen sized bed, a dresser, a small desk and book storage in the room. This was definitely a challenge given the size of the room with windows, closet door, room door filling the walls. This is the best layout I could think of! I’m sure this will change over the years with my daughter growing but it definitely works for now.
I painted the closet door frame and the Ikea hemnes dresser. My daughter wanted the whole closet to be painted like a Sun! I thought it’s going to be too many colors clashing in a small space. I’m waiting to see whether we will keep it like this or will paint the whole door! Ikea Hemnes dresser was red, I painted with teal color and changed the knobs.
I have kept everything else very simple. There is lot of space left on the walls for my daughter to fill with her art work and the posters she wants to hang there. I’m waiting for the electrician to install the ceiling light and the wall sconce next to the bed. I think this will help the space come together to have a fun colorful cozy Girl’s bedroom for my daughter to enjoy!
For me icing on the cake is being featured on Apartment therapy for this makeover!
