This was my daughter’s first birthday party. I wanted to share this party from past 3 years! I wanted it to be all DIY!! Ahhh the naive first time mom! Also the kid was still not walking:). I set on for a search on Pinterest with how to style a dessert table and all the party details. I ended up with a vintage theme with subtle colors and lace. Here is the Vintage modern first birthday party.
I used 5 colors for the backdrop fans with paper doilies and letters. It turned out pretty great for my first try.
All the cake stands and holders are from Ikea. I used trays and candlesticks to make it as a cake stand. I have not attached it though. I can still use those things as just a tray and a candle stick.
The beautiful cupcakes and the smash cake were done by my very talented friend Amrutha’s cake corner which was sure a big hit with my little girl!
Now for the party favors, I made party hats, paper bunting, stitched ruffled streamers (thanks to Dana). Added few balloons to give with some candy bars which are wrapped by the same card stock and letters used for the backdrop (didn’t I tell you first time mom :)). Here is the link for the letter download.
Making paper flowers for the table centerpieces and adding a paper streamer photo booth backdrop completed the whole look for the party. All these decorations would work for baby showers too!
I will be posting few tutorials on how to make paper fans and setting it up, party hats and candy wrappers.
If you want to make heart paper fans instead of circle ones, I have a tutorial here for you with the free printable to make it.
My PROUD moment was when my first party was featured!! Here is the link

Vintage theme for the first birthday comes as a breath of fresh air. Usual themes for the first birthdays are animals or cartoon characters. Your vintage theme is exceptionally innovative and creative. The hand crafted backdrop fans and flowers give so much oomph to the entire party. Also the choice of colours are very pleasant. The decor is not too busy which makes for a very pleasing party decor.
